Sleeping Beauty (Uinuv Kaunitar) ballet performance at theater Vanemuine. Photos from control performance.
Choreographed by Pär Isberg (Royal Swedish Ballet),
Stage design by Bo Ruben Hedwall,
Costumes designed by Emma Gaufin.
I always have and probably always will be complaining about low lighting of the stage. Parameters of most of the photos are ISO1600 f/4 1/80..125. Actually I have to admit, that although it is a hard task for a photographer to catch good shots in such conditions, the scene is bring enough and enjoyable as seen by non-camera-equipped audience. However, this time even the critics said that some scenes were too dark to see what is going on at the stage.
Photos are published with permission from Theater Vanemuine and dancers displayed on the photos. Thanks to Hayley, Saori, Kristina, Steven, Guy and Mantas for the permissions.
See pole just minu stiil aga pildid on nii kenad. Ehk peaks ka ise minema baletti uudistama.
I think your blog and pictures are exquisite and I look forward to reading more of them. Feel free to read my blog as I have looked at yours.
All the best.

Tänud Sulle Arvo! Sinult, kellel endal alati fantastilised pildid, on kiitust väga hea kuulda.
Balletti tasuks kindlasti vaatama minna. Usun, et Onegin, Giselle ja Uinuv Kaunitar väga nauditavad.
The photos are great.
My wife and I travelled from Southport, England, to Tartu for the premiere. (Hayley Blackburn is my wife’s niece.) I enjoyed it very much even though I am not a great fan of ballet.
Dear Roderick,
Thank You very much for Your good words. Hayley has told me that her family is always very happy see the photos I have taken. As I am a hobby-photographer and I don’t get paid for the photos, such good words from You and Hayley are my greatest reward.
I have, however, received some complaints from other dancers – howcome the best photos are always of Hayley and why aren’t there so beautiful photos of them :) I have to admit, that I love taking photos of her and as long as she is on stage, being as graceful and beautiful as she is, my camera is usually pointed at her only.
